The Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev took part in the 14th Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) hosted by the Republic of Turkey on 4 March 2021.
The Summit was held virtually under the theme “Regional Economic Cooperation in the Aftermath of Covid-19” and was chaired by the President of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The Summit was attended by the President of Afghanistan H.E. Ashraf Ghani, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Hassan Rouhani, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, among dignitaries.
At the Summit, Secretary General B. Amreyev delivered a speech and shared the Turkic Council’s vision of current and future cooperation opportunities between the Member States of the Turkic Council and ECO.
The Head of the Turkic Council stressed the importance of new approaches regarding developing economic assistance in the region during and after the pandemic by developing new ways to motivate trade, ease up customs procedures, and branch out transport routes, taking advantage of digital opportunities.
